With only about 2.5 venues for non red-dirt artist to perform at, bands are always seeking alternative stages to grace. There has always been an eclectic variety of music for listeners who cared enough to seek them out. Many times these artists have to book their own shows as evident with the explosion of underground music at The OneSixNine (VFW Post 169). Not only is it an opportunity to see many local bands but a host of national acts have played there as well. Plus the hall rental benefits the VFW.
Another welcome addition for the music scene is Vincent's Art & Coffee. The much talked about hot spot has been drawing packed house crowds to its Friday night open-mic shows (presently held on every other Friday)
With each artist allotted 3 songs/15 minutes you get to hear a wide range of tunes.
Seek out the new music and you'll be pleased you did. There's so much more out there than what you'll find in da club or on the bandwagon.
