DALLAS (AP) - The board that oversees the Cotton Bowl Classic today voted unanimously to move the game to the new Dallas Cowboys stadium in 2010.
The New Year's Day game is currently played at the open-air Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
The new Cowboys venue in Arlington opens in 2009 and will feature a retractable roof.
A domed stadium is important because of the often cold weather for the January Cotton Bowl game.
Cotton Bowl Athletic Association chairman Bruce Gadd says the deal with the Cowboys will last more than a decade.
Backers want to get the Cotton Bowl into the Bowl Championship Series mix.
Gadd also says the Cotton Bowl's name is trademarked and will go wherever the game is played.
The Cotton Bowl venue is home to games between Texas and Oklahoma, and Grambling State and Prairie View, during the State
Fair of Texas.
Those games are under contract at the Cotton Bowl through 2010.
