Cruz out of Texas lineup because of broken finger
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- All-Star outfielder Nelson Cruz was scratched from the Texas Rangers' starting lineup Sunday night against Minnesota because of a small fracture in his right ring finger. Cruz, who finished second in the Home Run Derby at the All-Star game, was taken out of Sunday's lineup about an hour before the game. He hurt his finger in the ninth inning Saturday diving into first base after avoiding a tag. Tests revealed the fracture, though the Rangers said Cruz was day to day and could be available as a pinch hitter depending on his pain tolerance. David Murphy replaced Cruz in the lineup and batted seventh. Murphy played left field and Andruw Jones switched from left to right, Cruz's spot. Cruz is second in the American League with 23 home runs. © 2009 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Most ViewedMore Good Stuff |
