Midwestern State got strong performances and top-10 finishes from Kayla Hendrix, Lindsey Pate and Andrea Borgman for a runner-up finish Saturday at the East Central Tiger Chase.

"We were pretty relaxed today," MSU coach Koby Styles said. "We have three hard races coming up, so today we had more of a workout mindset."

Kourtney Aylor, who finished in 21:12 for 14th, and Mallory Ammerman, who finished 19th with a time of 21:50, rounded out the top five finishers for the Mustangs, who finished with a total 50 points to finished second to Dallas Baptist's tally of 17.

Hassie Sutton finished 26th individually with a time of 22:20 and Mindy Briones took a 30th-place finish in 22:40.

"I'm pleased," Styles said. "We got a good workout and we're ready to roll at Missouri Southern. I think we're ready to shock a lot of people next week."

The Mustangs compete in the Missouri Southern Stampede next Saturday in Joplin.
