Bobby Ransom's 1-yard touchdown run with 1:49 remaining lifted Midwestern State to a 27-20 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.

The win extended numerous streaks as the Mustangs have now won their last eight season openers, 23-straight against opponents hailing from Oklahoma and 10 in a row against Lone Star Conference North Division foes.

But this game was in doubt due to Southeastern tailback Baylen Laury's effort.

Laury rushed for a game-high 116 yards and three touchdowns including two in the first quarter to give the Savage Storm a 14-7 advantage.

The Mustangs would score the next 13 points, but Southeastern rallied to knot the game at 20-20 on Laury's third TD late in the third quarter.

Midwestern State took over in the fourth quarter to regain the lead on a five-play, 75-yard drive keyed by a Zack Eskridge-to-David Little connection. Two plays later, Ransom plunged into the end zone.

Midwestern State, which improved to 1-0, takes on Northeastern State next Saturday in Tahlequah, Okla., while Southeastern Oklahoma (0-2) plays host to Eastern New Mexico.
