Zena Childs Roenfeldt
Zena Childs Roenfeldt Zena Childs Roenfeldt, 94, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Roenfeldt was born on January 26, 1915 in Bluegrove, TX to the late Ira Edwin Childs and Francis Bumpass Childs. On August 5, 1948, she married Lawrence A. Roenfeldt in Bluegrove. He preceded her in death in 1993. Zena was a beloved mother and tremendous Christian. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wichita Falls since 1948 where she was a member of Tabitha Society, was a Sunday School Teacher and served on the Alter Guild. She was a homemaker and had worked as a medical receptionist and bookkeeper. She is survived by one daughter, Pam Roenfeldt Mero and husband Lawrence of Blairsville, GA; 2 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nieces, Carolyn Graves and Debra Dacus; nephews, Paul Childs and Kim Childs and a number of great nieces and nephew and beloved friend and sister-in-law, Maebelle Spann. She is also survived by her extended family, the beloved staff at Lakeridge Place including, Renee’ Hamilton, Charlotte Struck, Jan Heard, Esther Castro and Annette Fleming who loved her and cared for her during her years there. She was preceded in death by sisters, Top Williams and Opal Fields and brothers, Carl, Ira, Kelvin, Ralph, Ray and Spencer Childs. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
