Sophie Mrochkowski
Sophie Mrochkowski Sophie Mrochkowski, 74, of Lakeside City, died Friday, October 30, 2009 at her home. Services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father John Swistovich officiating. A committal service will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Wichita Falls directed by Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. Sophie was born August 15, 1935 in Olszewka, Poland to Jan and Antonina (Kucinska) Piorkowski. She immigrated to the United States in 1958. She married Casimir “Casey” Mrochkowski October 25, 1959 in Irvington, NJ and together they had four children. They lived in the New Jersey area until 1980 when they moved to Wichita Falls. She was an Associate of the Order of Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth at Bethania Hospital until the Order moved to Tyler, TX. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church where she was a member of their Altar Society. She was also a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance. Her children remember her as a devoted homemaker and a caring and selfless mother who was dedicated to her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Mrochkowski is preceded in death by her parents; devoted husband of 45 years, Casimir Mrochkowski in 2004; sisters, Antonina Grabowska, Maria Andrzejewska, Czeslawa Berg; and brother, Wincenty Piorkowski. Survivors include her children, Kenneth C. Casimir, M.D. and wife Leeann of Madison WI, Conrad Mroczkowski and wife Sally of Wichita Falls, Violet Kulhanek and husband Anthony of Flower Mound, TX, Victor Mroczkowski and wife Danielle of Charleston, SC; sister, Stella Gocel of NJ; and eleven grandchildren, Lindsay George, Kendall George, Aaron Kulhanek, C.J. Mroczkowski, Claire Mroczkowski, Connor Kulhanek, Jonah Casimir, Jake Kulhanek, Christian Casimir, Lillian Kulhanek, and Aleks Mroczkowski. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 and prayer vigil at 7:00, Monday, November 2, 2009 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
