William C. Duncan William C. Duncan, 77, of Lakeside City, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 in Wichita Falls. Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Hampton Vaughan Chapel with Reverend Charles Pierce and Pastor Tex Cox officiating. A committal service with military honors will follow at Crestview Memorial Park directed by Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. Bill was born March 24, 1932 in Warsaw, KY to William Allen and Johanna Duncan. He served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War era, earning a National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He married the love of his life, Carmen Chandler, September 2, 1955 in Henrietta, TX and together they had four children. He worked for civil service at Sheppard Air Force Base as an airplane mechanic instructor, retiring after 42 years. He was instrumental in the designing of SPLRS, an instrument used to detect stress on screw holes on T-38 planes. He was a member of NRA. His family remembers him as a man who could build anything, from the home he and his wife lived in to the toy boxes he built for his grandchildren. His family was his most prized possession. Mr. Duncan is preceded in death by his parents, William and Johanna Duncan; sons, David Lee Duncan in 1958, William Allen Duncan in 1996; daughter, Mary Cathrine “Cathy” Duncan-Schrader in 2003; brothers, Robert Duncan, Sidney Duncan; sister, Viola Raisor; and great-grandson, Austin Allen Herron in 2002. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Carmen Duncan; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Vikki Duncan of Wichita Falls; sister, Gloria Duncan of Cincinnati, OH; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls. More Good Stuff |
