Charlie Johnson, Jr. Charlie Johnson, Jr., 85, of Wichita Falls died Sunday, October 18, 2009 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 22, 2009 at St. John’s Baptist Church with Reverend Billy R. Delany officiating. Committal service with Masonic and military honors will follow at Crestview Memorial Park directed by Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. Charlie was born October 3, 1924 in Montgomery, AL to Mr. and Mrs. Charlie (Anna Smith) Johnson, Sr. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during WWII, Korean War, and Viet Nam, retiring after 20 years at Shepherd Air Force Base L3 Communications. He then worked for the civil service as a maintenance supervisor at Barch Aerospace retiring with 21 years service. He married Anna Katheen Ellison August 24, 1968, in Wichita Falls. He is a member of St. John’s Baptist Church, a 32 degree Mason with Keywest Lodge, and the lead union representative where he worked. His family remembers him as Dallas Cowboys fan, and a role model who effected many lives, both family and friends. Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his parents; son, Theodore Johnson; two sisters, Jean Johnson Walker, and Hazel Nell Johnson; two brothers Eddie Dukes, Carnell Johnson, and nephew, Charles Bateman. Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Anna K. Johnson; children, Janice Johnson of New Britain, CT, Gary Griffin of Little Rock, AR, Kathy (K.D.) Johnson of Wichita Falls, James (Judy) Smith of Wichita Falls; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann (William) Turner of Franklinton, NC, Laura (Bennie) Smith, Willis (Dorothy)Walker of Montgomery, AL; brothers and sisters-in-law William (Mary) Johnson of Columbus, OH, Fay M. Wyatt of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren including Marisa Johnson, Charles Johnson, Kiaga N. Johnson, Tamika S. Anderson-Davis, Monique L. Anderson all of New Britain, CT; eight great-grandchildren Izaeah Foster, Tyris Johnson, Asia Johnson, Skye Johnson, Niaya David, Zarell Davis and Aavon Prevo-Anderson all of New Britain, CT; and goddaughter, Ferin Nelson of Wichita Falls. Family will great visitors 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. More Good Stuff |
