Derrel McLeland "Pete" Dennis, Sr.
Derrel McLeland "Pete" Dennis, Sr. Derrel McLeland (Pete) Dennis, Sr., 78 of Wichita Falls, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Texas Specialty Hospital in Wichita Falls. He was born on July 18, 1931 near Olney, TX to the late George R. Dennis and Mary McLeland Dennis. On November 20, 1959 he married Mary Gladys Hibbs in Wichita Falls. Mr. Dennis attended Hardin Simmons College in Wichita Falls and had worked as an oil field worker and carpenter. He retired from the U.S. Army in September, 1991 after 39 years of active service. He is survived by his wife, Mary Dennis of Wichita Falls, son, Jr. Dennis of Wichita Falls, daughter, Meloney Folsom of Wichita Falls, “daughter of our heart”, Shellie Skinner of Comanche, OK, grandchildren, Pete L. Dennis of Wichita Falls, Candice Bray of Houston, Shelly Boren of Crowell, John Folsom of Norfolk, VA and Nathan Folsom and wife Emily of Wichita Falls, great grandchildren, Brianna, Brandon, Justin, Nolen, Meloney D., Mary Elizabeth and Noah, brother, George Robert Dennis and wife Roberta of Venus, TX, sister-in-law, Ila Dennis and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, James H. Dennis and great grandchild, Nicolas Folsom. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel in Wichita Falls with Rev. Mike Miller officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Crestview Memorial Park.
