Tens of Thousands Die from Abortions Despite Fewer Being Performed

Tens of thousands of women are dying from abortions, even though the number of abortions being performed worldwide is falling due to an increased use of contraceptives.

A new report estimates more than 70,000 women die from unsafe procedures being performed mostly in poorer countries and are often carried out by the women themselves or by untrained traditional healers.
