OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The deputy director of the Oklahoma Merit Protection Commission has been arrested for refusing to leave the state attorney general's officer. Austin Gilley is on administrative leave with pay from the commission following a dispute with the commission director. He went to the office Tuesday after an assistant attorney general sent him a letter demanding he return commission data backup tapes. Attorney General spokesman Charlie Price says Gilley turned over the tapes but refused to provide passwords unless someone in the office would take a briefcase he carried. Employees in the office refused the briefcase and called Public Safety officials who then arrested Gilley. The Oklahoma Merit Protection Commission resolves disputes and grievances filed by state employees.
