Two Texas US Senators are introducing the Fort Hood Victims and Families Benefits Protection Act.

Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn say the legislation would grant the victims of the Fort Hood attack and the families of the deceased victims the same legal status as if their attack had occurred in a combat zone.

Senator Cornyn says quote "whether it be in central Iraq or central Texas, when Americans serving our country come under terrorist attack, they should be eligible for the same level of benefits and the same recognition."
