Republican Gary Butler Announces His Plans to Run for Judge

The 'first hat' in the ring for Wichita County Court at Law Juge No. 1 has been thrown in. Republican Gary Butler made a formal announcement the morning of Nov. 19, 2009. That position is currently held by Judge Jim Hogan, and he is not running.

Butler is an attorney, an Associate Judge in Wichita Falls, and the Municipal Judge for Archer City. He is a former prosecutor in the Wichita County District Attorney's Office and hopes that expierence will help him win the seat.

Gary Butler said, "That's the unique experience and perspective that I have in my 12-year practice. I've done a lot of the difference things and now have all the experience that it takes to run that court, and run it well."

Butler is the first person to declare his candidacy for the Court at Law Position One and that seat will be elected November 2010.
