City councilors will look at finishing the circular trail system in Wichita Falls as a part of a TXDOT Enhancement Program. However, before the shovels can start digging the plans have to be drawn up, funds applied through txdot, then approved for construction.

City councilors will discuss approving a contract with an engineering firm to design about four miles of trails in the western side of the city. The new trails would go from Seymour Highway around 9th Street to Fairway, and on Barnett from Lake Wichita to Briargrove.

Total cost for the plans of the trails is just under 200,000 dollars. Even though the plans are being designed, that doesn't mean that the city will be awarded the funds for construction.

According to the city, their chances of getting that money is greatly increased if they have plans ready to go.
