The Montague County Sheriff's Department held a CERT Certification Training Session Nov. 14, 2009. CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team. Its members have become an asset to emergeny personal and county officials in the event of a crisis.

Paul Cunningham, Montague County Sherriff said, "With a CERT team you don't have to have a police background. It's just a team that is put together to assist the first responders, fire departments, police departments, and your ambulance services when a catastrophe does strike, say a tornado or wildfires that we've had here in the past."

Nov. 14 is the final class, and it included training with fire extinguishers and search and rescue exercises on horseback.
