(ALTUS, OKLAHOMA) A fiery plane crash on November 8th leaves two dead.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the victims as the pilot, Robert Munson, 38 years old, from Blair, and Zachary Cook, a 17-year-old from Altus.

The small plane crashed and caught fire in a field just more than a mile away from the Altus airport. The plane is identified as a 2001 Skybolt. Airport officials said the plane took off from the Altus Quartz Mountain Airport around 11:30 a.m. At takeoff, conditions were windy and cloudy, and the plane crashed shortly after leaving the ground.

The highway patrol said the pilot was giving a ride to a passenger, and the airplane apparently lost control. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
