Texans, Cast Your Ballots!

It's election day and Texans are casting their ballots today for the constitutional amendment election.

Voting locations are open until 7 p.m. There are eleven amendments on the ballot. Proposition Two is aimed at keeping your taxes in check. Officials say within the past year homes have been appraised 200 percent higher than the year before. This is a practice known as 'highest and best use' which values property on its potential, rather than its current, use.

Prop Two seeks to allow appraisals only on current use.
