Wichita Falls' first responders were the first in line to get the health department's supply of the H1N1 vaccine.

The Wichita Falls Wichita County Public Health District received 200 doses of the H1N1 vaccine. Health officials say those doses were going to fire department personnel because they arrive first to many medical emergency scenes and could be at risk.  

Firefighter Clay McCarthy said: "We all plan on getting vaccinated because of the people we come across. You don't know who is going to be infected with what. Someone might have the flu and not know it. That's why we're working hand on real close with everyone to go on the safe side and prepare ourselves with the vaccination."

Not all firefighters have received the vaccine yet, but they say they expect it in the next few days. It's not mandatory and some have opted out in order to save vaccine for others in need. Still no word on when a public vaccination clinic will take place.
