Archer County fire departments are holding a fundraiser for the Fire Fighter Appreciation Relief Fund today. Money raised goes to any fire fighter who has been injured on the job.

The money gives aid and comfort and helps with groceries and other household expenses. The event kicked off with a motorcyle fun run. The eight different fire departments participated in a bean cook off, and volunteers enjoyed water hose races, horse shoe competitions, music, and entertainment at the Archer Activity Complex.

 
Fire Chief Pete Wolf said, "This gives us a chance for the people to come out, interact with us, meet the home owners, show them how much we appreciate their support throughout the year as well. A lot of time, in turn show their support for us."

The event continues until midnight tonight. There's a barbecue dinner, and starting at nine, there's a dance and silent auction. It's ten dollars per person, and that includes a chance win a TV, lawn mower, and gift card.
