Local resident Anthony Gutierrez helped make dreams come true this weekend. Sunday was the IFFYNTX Independent Film Festival wrap up and it included a "director's cut." Fifteen directors were on set. What they all say is it begins with a dream.
Anup Sugunan is a Rider High School graduate who followed his dream to L.A. His movie, "Necessary Illusions" won the Visionary award in Washington.
"I think acting, writing, directing is the holy trinity of film making, " Sugunan said.
Director and Producer Cindy Baer agrees. Her film, "Purgatory House" shows what it's like to be a teen in today's world. Baer's film will be available on dvd January 16th.
"Anyone in the United States or Canada that goes into their video store will be able to see it and actually connect with her and her story," Baer said.
What any director or actor will tell you, connecting with your audience is what matters. For one local actor the film fest was the first time watching himself with a large crowd.
"I was sitting there like this the whole time. The crowd really seemed to like it. They laughed at all the right spots. It was really gratifying," lead actor of "Twenty Something" David Clemandot said.
For Burkburnett's Jesse Johnson, when you dream big the possibilities are endless. Things are starting to kick off for his film, "Shattered Heroes" in a big way.
"We have the support of the World War II museum in New Orleans, they recently showed Clint Eastwood the trailer from the film and from what i understand he really liked it, " Johnson said.
It's not just about movies for these directors...It's their life.
As Gutierrez said, "Bringing a little bit of Hollywood to North Texas is icing on the cake."
