Public People Inside Interests, Harold McClure Loves Superman!

Wichita Falls Police Officer Harold McClure loves superman! His passion started as a young boy and over the years it's grown into much more.

McClure said as a single dad you're always looking for a way to connect with your kids and luckily, he has a great daughter who also has an interest in Superman.

Whether it's the Saturday routine of comic book shopping or pizza night watching Smallville, Officer McClure and his daughter Veronica, or Ronney as he calls her, have a special bond when it comes to Superman. They even painted a mural of the man of steel on her bedroom wall.

"It was something we were able to do together. It was something we were able to laugh and have a good time with. Every time we look at it you can't help but smile when you see it. It was a lot of fun," he said.

Their collection includes thousands of comic books, of course all the movies, quite a few figurines and even a replica cape. So with all the super heros to choose from, Why the last son of Krypton? McClure says he likes the idea of a secret identity.

"I don't see myself as a Superman. I see myself more as Clark Kent, I like what he stands for," McClure said.

He may consider himself more of the mild-mannered reporter type, but once his police uniform goes on, he becomes a city hero.

"When it's time to work, it's time to work and I take my job very seriously but at home with my daughter it's fun to be a kid again," he said.

Even though Officer McClure isn't faster than a speeding bullet, or more power ful than a locomotive, he still deals with difficult situations in his line of work. That's why he says it's important to have a past time.

"There comes a time you have to be normal you have to be a dad and a friend and this is a nice release. Kind of step back and get lost in a comic or movie and enjoy being a kids again," he said.
