Some Americans don't like the bailout plan, especially with other economic concerns like healthcare costs. A big concern because more children go to the hospital in the fall than any other time of year. Ashley Fitzwater is live with more.
It may be beautiful outside but ragweed, grass and pollen all acting together, can make anyone miserable. Especially little ones with allergies and asthma. Doctor Kenneth Sultemeier says most irritants responsible for your children's attacks arrive in the fall!
M.D. Kenneth Sultemeier said, "Also it's a combination of our respiratory viral season starting now and kids are going back to school or daycare sharing virus bring home mom and dad and baby and gets sick also too."
But parents, it's early in the fall season and Dr. Sultemeier says that's a good time to start prevention. Dr. Sultemeier said, "Those maintenance medicines that you take everyday to keep asthma in control are very important this time of year."
Even everyday prescriptions or allergy medications are useful. "So taking nose spray Claritin other medicine like that to keep allergies in control will also improve lung function, sleeping and allergies symptoms."
But Dr. Sultemeier stresses there is an exception with over the counter medication! "It all depends on the age children less than need to consult physicians if the label reads less than two or less than six consult cause some have pretty sever side affects and are not safe to take routinely."
Some health experts warn cough and cold medicine may also be dangerous for young children. With the FDA considering a ban on cough and cold medicines for young children, Dr. Sultemeier says carefully read labels and make sure kids get their flu shots. Reporting live, Ashley Fitzwater Channel 6 News.
Flu shots also help allergies and asthma because viral infections can cause flare ups. Other things parents can do, include keeping windows closed, carpets vacuumed, and try keeping pets outdoors a little longer than usual. You might also consider replacing carpet with hard surface flooring.
