A brutal stabbing in Megargel leaves one Texoma man dead and another behind bars.
Archer County Sheriff Ed Daniels says the call came in at about 7:30 this morning. A stabbing in Megargel.... A tiny town of less than 250 people, about 20 miles southwest of Archer City.
The stabbing occurred at the suspect's house.
The victim, 26 year old Ross Lane Richards. Medical staff at Olney hospital tried to revive richards upon arrival, but he was soon pronounced dead. The question now is why.
"We know they're friends and they had been hanging out for a few days. We really don't know what caused the dispute or whatever to turn violent but now on is dead and one in jail," Sheriff Daniels said.
Sheriff Daniels says they've received disturbance calls and had trouble with these individuals in the past, but he never imagined it would end up like this.
"Just one of those things you can't predict it and these things happen," Sheriff Daniels said.
This is the second murder in Archer County in two months. You may remember in August convience store clerk Mindy Daffern was kidnapped and killed.
"Very unusual just not like a small county like this... two murders with in two months, it's very rare," Sheriff Daniels said.
We talked with one Megargel resident who knew both the victim and suspect from todays crime She says she's not surprised this happened but wouldn't go on camera for fear her life would be in danger. Officials are continuing the investigation, searching two vehicles and the house for the murder weapon they say is a knife.
