Wichita Falls Man Pleads Guilty

 AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Three men pleaded guilty in Austin today to selling counterfeit computer software on the Internet in violation
of copyright laws.

The Justice Department says 24-year-old Thomas C. Rushing III of Wichita Falls and 29-year-old Brian C. Rue of Denton each pleaded guilty to one count of criminal copyright infringement. The pleas came before U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks in Austin.

Twenty-four-year-old William Lance Partridge of Royse City pleaded guilty to one count of criminal copyright infringement
before U.S. Magistrate Andrew W. Austin in Austin.

Each face a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release. Sentencing is scheduled
for December 19th.

According to court documents, Rushing, Rue and Partridge operated several Web sites that sold a large volume of counterfeit
software from 2006 to September 2007. The software sold had a combined retail value of 2.5 million dollars.
