Drivers: Be Smart as School Year Begins

Abbie Carter

Wichita Falls wants to make sure drivers get a smart start to the school year.

The first day is Monday. The Traffic Safety Commission says we all need to do the following as we head toward the beginning of the school year: watch for children riding a bicycle or walking to school, be on the lookout for kids entering roadways unexpectedly, follow signals from crossing guards, and mind school speed zone restrictions.

And an important reminder: don't pass a school bus that is flashing red lights and has extended a stop sign.
