Forecasters expect 'dangerous heat' in North Texas

Dan Garcia

(AP) -  Saturday will be another scorching, dry afternoon across Texas.

Temperatures are expected to reach triple digits again in North Texas, around Austin and in East Texas. The National Weather Service expects highs in the 90s throughout the rest of the state and little cloud cover in most areas.

Agency forecasters warned that the weekend is expected to bring "dangerous heat" around Dallas, with heat index values soaring upward of 110 degrees. Sunday is expected to be even hotter in the North Texas region, where heat index values could exceed 110 degrees.

Lows are expected to range from the 60s in the Panhandle to the 80s around Dallas. Overnight temperatures around Houston and along the Texas coast will likely be in the upper 70s.
