We continue our look it Weight Loss Surgery tonight with the miraculous health benefit claims. It's being said that Bariatric Surgery is curing diabetes!
The reports are true, and Cas Salkowski is living proof!! She's lost 120 pounds and multiple medical problems, including diabetes! She says the surgery not only changed her life, but saved her from dying!
"I was taking 28 medication plus 4 different insulins everyday. I already had nine heart surgeries and 11 surgeries on my arms." said Cas Salkowski.
But after all that she was hit with the hardest reality.
"My doctor had told me that basically I would be dead in a year, and I didn't have any doubts about that."
Cas tried to lose weight on her own, but finally decided weight loss surgery was her best option.
"I had surgery, and a week later I was off all but 5 of those medications and off insulin. 2 weeks later I was completely off all diabetic medications and was down to 4 pills for my heart."
She was also free from sleep apnea and asthma attacks!
"The amazing thing about it though is the diabetes. They always tell you you can never get rid of it, but like I said, after surgery I didn't have diabetes."
It was truly a miracle for Cas and something she needed to get her through yet another hardship thrown her way! Cas is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. She was diagnosed last year, and had to have surgery to remove some of the cancer.
"I would've died from it there is no way they could've operated."
Which gave Cas even more proof that losing weight with Gastric Bypass saved her life.
We are not done hearing from Cas, next Wednesday we take a closer look at her and at Karin Lerew, who was featured in our first report. Both women share how losing weight with Bariatric Surgery impacted their relationships with friends and family in negative and positive ways.
