Fewer Americans to Fly this Summer

News1 KAUZ

Fewer Americans are expected to travel this summer because of rising ticket prices.
Airlines expect a little more than 200 million passengers this summer, but that's only one percent less than last year.
Planes are expected to be 85 percent full as airlines cut back on flights to help offset fuel costs, but locally, the military keeps flights in the air.
Monica Morris, Airport Administrator, says, ""If the military determines it too burdensome for them to absorb the additional carriers, they may end up finding a different way to move their people around."

Military and their families make up more than half of Wichita Falls Municipal Airport flyers. Morris also says pilot shortages have had an impact on some airports, but so far Wichita Falls has not been affected.
