Some Midwestern State University Business majors will get the chance of a lifetime this summer. It's all part of the International summer school program. Students in the Dillard College Of Business learn hands on about the global economy by studying abroad.
Students will join ten other universities from across the globe (places like Russia, the UK, India) for a two week course in Erfurt, Germany.
"They get a task at the beginning of summer school to develop a business plan. This year we have the topic of developing a plan in the beverage sector," Dr. and Vice President of Technology Transfer and International Relations Klaus Merforth said.
Students will be split into cross cultural groups, something MSU professors say will be a valuable tool for future jobs, when they have to interact with different countries.
It's not all about learning inside the classroom...
"But also outside visiting companies that produce beverages like soft drinks or beer or sparkling wine and so on," Dr. Merforth said.
He adds the program provides the framework, but it's the students venturing out into the German community--attending workshops and conducting outside research in a foreign country--that gives the true once in a lifetime experience.
The course runs August 31 through September 13. If you want to learn more about the International Exchange Program including requirements, just click on http://www.summerschool-erfurt.de/.
