A National company is saying "help wanted" right here in Texoma. It's called N.E.W and they've already hired 200 employees and are looking to double that.
The Wichita Falls Board Of Commerce And Industry said more companies are moving to the work-at-home concept. N.E.W is one of those hoping to bring that opportunity to the Falls. They provide help with service contracts for different electronic companies. Locally, N.E.W. services Direct TV accounts.
"Customers will call us because they have a snowy screen or because they're not getting the channels that they ordered on pay per view," Human Resources Recruiter Angela Mackay said, "They call us and we walk them through how to fix it."
After applying online, hired applicants will attend a five week training course, with an extra week of training at home. Everyone is paid $9.50 an hour to go through the course.
Since employees work from home, they are required to have a computer with high speed internet, a headset, and telephone line. Mackay said a lot of people may have doubts since some work-at-home offers aren't legitimate.
"Then we get them through the process and get them into the class and they're realize it's exactly what we do at any of our call centers that have a stationary building-- only we're doing it from home," Mackay said.
Kevin Pearson with the BCI says if it wasn't for the training facilities provided by MSU and the Dillard College of Business, the project would never have happened in Wichita Falls.
Another partnership they've enjoyed working with is Sheppard Air Force Base. In fact, N.E.W targets military bases.
"This job, you can take it with you so there is a very mobile work force there," Mackay said.
If you're interested in applying for a job with N.E.W. you can apply at www.newhomebasedccr.com. The next training class at MSU will begin May 12th.

N.E.W. appears to discriminate against both men and those without credible workplace experience who are not military related even though they might be qualified through their ability to problem solve, use computers, provide customer service, and manage various projects. This does not appear to be an Equal Opportunity Employer from our family's experience.
