Spending Your Tax Rebate Wisely

Texoman's will start receiving hundreds of dollars from the government starting in May. It's all part of the Economic Stimulus Package, and we're all thinking about how we're going to spend our tax rebate. Should we blow it all on frivolous things or use it responsibly? If you're not sure, credit counselor L.P. Sanders says the first step is to prioritize. If you're not sure, credit counselor L.P. "Put the money aside, think about it for a time period and then make a good decision that you don't regret later on," Sanders says.

Sanders says using the money to supplement your monthly income is one way to spend wisely. Any way you spend it, the money will go back into the economy.

Sanders says, "Make it make up for the high cost of gasoline, the high cost of groceries, the high cost of medicine to sort of supplement your income and that would be the smartest use of their money."

If the money will pay off credit card debt, that's another smart use for the tax rebate. But no one says you have to spend the money at all

"Spending now is not a directive of this issue. They can put that money into savings and hold it," Sanders says.

Prioritize and be responsible with your spending. Sanders says it's not too early to start thinking about the smartest way to spend you tax rebate.
