The Texas Department of State Health Services has confirmed that a pool of mosquitoes from Wichita Falls has tested positive for the West Nile Virus. The mosquitoes were collected on August 23rd from a mosquito trap placed in the southern area of Wichita Falls as part of a routine surveillance program. Health department officials say that area has already been treated so there's no need to panic.

" I want people to go on with their everyday lives, it's not a panic situation we've had Westnile in the past. We did find it last year, but we've had a lot of water this year, a lot of rain unusual rain. When you're looking for something that out there you're going to find it we were looking." said Susan Morris with the Wichita Fall, Wichita County Health Department. Morris says the health department will continue to look at and treat mosquitoes. To request a spraying for live mosquitoes call the health department at 761-7890.
