Another recall issued by the FDA. This time, thousands of pounds of chicken and meat products contaminated with a potentially deadly bacteria.

We spoke with public health officials to see if Texoma should be concerned. Officials say none of the recalled products made it to our area.

Health officials say they do everything they can to ensure the safety of consumers. Locally if there's a concern they send inspectors out, usually to grocery stores. They'll talk to managers and make sure they're aware of any recalls and are taking appropriate actions.

"Most of the time they'll have taken the products down before we get there cause the manufacturer contacts them a lot sooner then we get notification. We get notification through State and Federal agencies," said Tzaquic.

Officials say your best defense against unsafe food is to be aware. But Fernando Teza-Wic with the health department says you should feel safe with the national food supply. Tonight at ten, a closer look at the latest food recall, including more on what *you* should know, as a consumer.
