Torres wins 50 free in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Dara Torres has won the 50-meter freestyle at the Texas Senior Circuit meet.

The 42-year-old Olympian finished first Friday night in 24.75 seconds. Martina Moravcova, a 33-year-old Olympian from Slovakia, was second in 25.67.

Torres won a silver medal in the 50 at the Beijing Olympics, where her time of 24.07 set an American record.

She is training for next month's U.S. nationals, where the team for the world championships will be chosen.

In the men's 50, Olympian Garrett Weber-Gale won in 22.33.
