It's been nearly 14 years of no answers or justice for the Scroggins family.

We first brought you the story of 25-year-old Zemether Scroggins in a previous Cold Case Report.  After that story aired, the family reached out to KAUZ. They say there's more information about his death that could help find his killer.

He was a father, son, and brother, and was tragically murdered a cold night in January of 1996.  Although time has passed, his death hasn't been forgotten.

John Scroggins, Zemether's older brother, is still searching for justice. Looking back, John said he still remembers that night like Yesterday.  He said Zemether was spending time with his nieces and nephews.  In fact just 15 minutes after leaving, Zemether's life was gone.

He died just around the corner from his mom's house. His niece Claudie Scroggins, who was then only 9 years old, was also staying at the house that night.

"We even heard the gun shots. Like I said it was right down the street from Grannies house." said Claudie Scroggins.

Claudie stood on the porch in her pajamas waiting for her Uncle Zemether to come back home from a short errand. But while standing on that porch, little Claudie received news she would never forget.

"It didn't seem real at first since it happened so fast" said Claudie Scroggins.

But sadly Claudie knew her Uncle's life being taken, was a possibility.

 "He said a couple of people had it out for him." said Claudie.

With no answers just knowledge of a deadly shooting, John drove to the scene.

"I could see my brother just laying and hanging out the car and it upset me." said John Scroggins.

Just another reason putting the person responsible behind bars is so important to this family.

Zemether Scroggins had four kids, two boys and two girls. The family says finding Scroggins killer is also important to those children, who never really got a chance to know their father.
