In Tonight's Cold Case series we take you back 28 years to the scene at Cactus Inn, A Wichita Falls Motel, where a 50 year old woman was found shot to death. It was a Monday just after 7:30a.m., when the owner called to check in.

But his concerns quickly rose when Manager Clovis Patterson didn't answer the phone. After repeatedly getting no answer, the owner,  decides to drive up to the motel.

 "He gets there and sees the lights outside business ones are on and he knew that was strange since it was daylight normally Clovis had turned them off. He noticed the newspaper was out and hadn't been picked up yet." said Wichita Falls Officer Harold McClure

The owner's suspicions grew, after going inside.

He finds Clovis laying on the couch with a blanket pulled over her head, at first he assumes she's just sleeping.

"He tries to wake her up and get some response, but is not getting it. So he assumes she is deceased and calls police."

Police say when the officer went to check on her, he discovered she had been shot.

While investigating officers also notice $250 in cash had been taken from the register. Leaving even more un-answered questions.
