Some Sheppard Air Force Base airmen can't head home for the holidays, and that's where Texoma comes in.

The base is gearing up for November 26th's "Operation Thanksgiving." For the past 32 years, the base has asked families to give airmen a home-cooked meal. Host families will need to pick up the airmen at the Sheppard Community Center at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning.

Sergeant Scotty Duncan with the student ministry said this event helps bring Texoma together. "This provides a sense of community.  It gets them out there and lets them know people do care.  What they're doing here in the military is important.  It gives them a sense of pride and I think that's very important."

If you would like to host an airman this year, call the chapel at 676-0013.
