Two killed in Houston news helicopter crash

(AP) HOUSTON – A news helicopter belonging to Houston ABC affiliate KTRK crashed in Montgomery County Monday morning, 11 News has confirmed.

Two people were killed.

On its Web site, KTRK confirmed that a pilot and a photographer were aboard the helicopter at the time of the crash. The station did not release their names.

The chopper went down in a heavily wooded area after responding to a triple shooting call. Firefighters quickly brought fires around the crash site under control, but a thick smoke plume rose from the site, and debris was scattered among the trees.

It was unclear what caused the crash.
