U.S. Senate candidate rick noriega made a campaign stop in wichita falls this morning to push his energy proposal. The candidate has a plan that includes both short and long term goals for eliminating the united states dependency on foreign oil.

When U.S. Senate candidate Rick Noriega hit town this morning, he came out swinging against his incumbent opponent U.S. Senator John Cornyn. "...We can continue to be an energy leader in this new energy economy, but we have to have the leadership and the vision to make that happen," he said.

Noriega says the United States has to have a plan of attack that not only includes more energy conservation, but increased use of green energy and increased drilling for oil. "...In our plan, we have said that we are in favor of additional off shore drilling. We are accustomed to it as Texans. That's what we have done for a long time as part of our economy," says Noriega.

Noriega was quick to go after his opponent saying Senator Cornyn has taken money from oil companies. "... But he has received in excess of a million and change in political contributions from the big oil companines now and during his political career.."

Something Noriega says can no longer happen to serve the state.  "...You can no longer put the special interests above Texas family's interest."

It's interesting to note that early in the day, calls from Cornyn's Austin campaign office started coming<a s were e-mails tearing Noriega's energy plan apart. John Drogin with Cornyn's Campaign told us Noriega's energy plan has waivered over the past week.

A Cornyn Campaigner was at Noriega's event this morning video taping Noriega's comments. It seems this campaign will get much more heated in the last 90 days leading up to the November Election.
