A Kirby Junior High School student was assaulted Thursday morning on the way to his bus stop.

Nicolas Basquez was on his way to catch the bus when a car pulled up next to him. A man jumped out and attacked the 14-year old. Nicolas fought back after the man started going through his computer bag, looking for anything to steal.

Nicolas Basquez says, "I got up and smacked him across the temple area which surprised him, and me, and I used that time to punch him on the right cheek and he nearly tripped and dropped my laptop bag and he ran back to his car."

Nicolas' mother Teresa said police told her there had been another child robbed on Eastside this morning as well. Police are investigating. Nicolas said his assailant was a white male, approximately 17 years old, with a mustache.
