Rick Tillery

Rick Tillery is the Morning and Noon Anchor here at KAUZ. Born in Corpus Christi, Rick is a native Texan who is very happy to be back in his home state.

Rick comes to Wichita Falls from KJRH, the NBC affiliate in Tulsa, where he was a reporter and filled in on the anchor desk. While there he covered the major flooding in Coffeyville, Kansas. It was one story that he says continues to remind him how quickly things can turn dangerous. Before Green Country, Rick was at KLFY, the CBS affiliate in Lafayette, Louisiana. He, and his then fiancée, left there just one day before Hurricane Katrina slammed into the area. Rick has also worked at WXII in Winston-Salem, KCEN in Waco, a production house in Sacramento, and The Washington Bureau in Washington, DC. He’s also worked in just about every position in the newsroom, from editor to producer to reporter and now anchor. He says it gives him a unique perspective to covering the news, and a good understanding at what it takes to put a complete newscast together.

Before moving into the news business full time Rick served his country in the United States Air Force, and was deployed to the Persian Gulf Region twice in the 1990’s. While stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland he worked part time on Capitol Hill at TWB and studied History at the University of Maryland, University College.

Rick enjoys spending time with his wife Catherine, their dog River, and a good game of Texas Hold’em with friends. You’ll also find him out running and cycling on Texoma roads as he continually trains for Marathons, Half Marathons and other races. If you see him around town, make sure you say hi.
