Flood waters are gone, but work is just beginning for many Texomans who's homes were flooded last Tuesday.
Several residents along FM 367 and Wellington and Huntington Lanes are still dealing with damage from last weeks flood waters. And with every load out, reality sets in a little more about what these homeowners have lost.
"It's tough to walk in and everything that you have worked so hard for your whole like is gone in a matter of hours." said Wichita Falls Police Officer, & Flood Victim Melvin Joyner.
Chris Issacs, his wife and 20 month old daughter experienced the same devastation with water reaching at least three feet.
"When it started coming in I got my wife up and we started throwing things in bags and on high beds and we saved nearly all her clothes and most of ours." said Chris Isaacs.
Chris says his mother and brother-in-law live close by and both of their homes were also flooded. But for Chris one of the hardest things, is watching how it's affected his little girl.
Joyner, the Isaacs family, and many of their neighbor's plan on re-building
"We have just invested too much into this place to just let it go."
But say it's the friends, family and kindness of strangers that has gotten them through.
"I would have never been able to do what I've done this fast without all the help we have been blesses with friends and family." said Joyner.
If you would like to help, residents say there are several elderly residents along Wellington, and Huntington lanes that need large items removed.
You can also contact the American Red Cross or Salvation Army to find out what additional items they need to help flood victims out.
