The Texas Crime Prevention Association wrapped up its week long conference today.

It was held in Wichita Falls, at the MPEC. The event also brought a special honor to a local officer. Wichita Falls Dare Officer Kris Henning will now play a major role on the State Board of The Texas Crime Prevention Association.

"This is a huge honor and probably one of the best things that has happened in my career so I'm thrilled." said Officer Kris Henning.

Henning along with other Wichita Falls Played a major role in preparing this week for the hundreds of Texas officers who attended.

Officer say it was a great time to network and to share info across the state and provide safety for all Texans.

More than 140 officers took classes and bounced ideas off each other so they aren't having to continuously reinvent the wheel.

"We try to provide current training or whatever the current hot topic is out there in crime prevention." said Crime Prevention President of the North Texas Region Sgt. Steve Garst.

This conference also allows some officers to become Crime Prevention Specialists, through extensive classes and testing.

Which in the end means *additional* protection for you. Crime Prevention is a large department, including everything from stranger danger to neighborhood watch.
