Literally hundreds of Texomans were bombarded this afternoon with a text message asking for some very sensitive information. Doctor Brian Hasse is just one of many Texomans who got this text message on his cell phone Friday afternoon.

"It looked kinda strange because it asked me to respond to an inquiry about a possible security issue at a bank that I didn't even bank at," said Hasse.

The message said First National Bank of Wichita Falls customers should call a 1-8-6-6- number. Doctor Hasse thought it a bit odd, and dialed the number out of curiosity. He says when the person on the other end started asking for sensitive information he just hung up.

"Somebody sent out a bad text message saying that it was coming from the bank, asking them to call an 866 number area code and give credit card info and debit card info about three other pieces of info."

Within minutes the phones lit up at the bank with customers asking if the bank sent out the message. Berg says the message is totally bogus.

"That's simply not the case. They called our bank and several other small banks in town. I've just got to tell the general public, you never give your personal info over the phone."

Another bit of information cliff berg with First National Bank of Wichita Falls tells me the bank will never call and ask for your personal information they already have it on file. So once again... if you ever receive a text message, if you ever receive an e-mail, if you ever receive a piece of regular mail or a call asking for any personal information don't give it out or else your running the risk of having your identity stolen.
