It was enacted in 2006 to help seniors on a fixed income with the ever increasing costs of prescription medicine. But many seniors just don't see it that way.  "They're the ones making all the money, we're not. Takes everything we can rake in to make ends meet."

On Wednesday, U.S. Representative Mac Thornberry gave his thoughts on the program. Now, we've heard from local Democrat Roger Waun. He paints a much different picture.  "I can tell you it was put together by the lobbyists for the drug industry. It was brought to the floor late at night and the vote was held open for three hours," said Waun.

He also says to fix the problems we've been outlining it would take some major steps.

"First of all, let's re-allow the importation of drugs from Canada and Mexico," said Waun. Then he says the federal government should be allowed to negotiate the price of drugs with the pharmaceutical companies.

To date, except for U.S. Representative Mac Thornberry, neither of the U.S. Senators from Texas have responded to our requests for comments.

Once again, we have contacted the Oklahoma congressional delegation on how they feel the program is working. Without a doubt, i have covered more ground with the Oklahoma delegation than with our own senators from Texas. Early next week, the Oklahomans have promised a response. All three members of the delegation.
