You Ask, We Investigate: Man Arrested And Charged For Impersonating a Public Servant

A man is charged with "impersonating a public servant" and a You Ask We Investigate report spurred the investigation.A question you ask, we investigate raised on january 3rd, resulted in the launch of an investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Melissa Brinson claimes she was stopped by a man who said he was a Texas State Trooper.

"He said that I cut hom off and I could have caused an accident. I never seen him," Brinson said.

After flashing a badge, he detained Brinson for about 15 minutes. She was finally released. After thoroughly investigating the the case, DPS Sargent William Browning developed a suspect identified as 51-year old Monte Jack Duwe.

Troopers searched Duwe's home and vehicle. They say they found three law enforcement badges and a wallet to display the badges. After taking a lie detector test, Duwe confessed to stopping Melissa Brinson.

"I'm glad I called you because I knew that was the right thing to do because I knew I couldn't do it by myself," said Brinson.
